About the speaker

Rebecca Scales leads learning at Procore, where she built and runs the AI Academy serving the company's product and engineering organization. A former high school social studies and competitive speech and debate teacher for 12 years, she brings classroom-tested learning science into corporate environments, with deep expertise in engineering enablement, knowledge management, and AI fluency.

She is known for scaling engineer-led learning communities. At Expedia, what began as a single Python class became the Expedia Code Academy, growing to 22 concurrent classes in a single month and reaching over 8,000 learners worldwide in three and a half years. She followed it with the Instructor Academy, which certified roughly 400 engineer-instructors in evidence-based teaching techniques including Bloom's taxonomy and educational psychology.

Rebecca thinks about learning as a system. At Noom, she inherited the knowledge management discipline and recognized that strong learning programs require a strong knowledge base underneath them, a connection she now applies to AI-era enablement: clean knowledge in, useful AI out. Her programs span engineers, product managers, designers, and managers, and they reach people through classes, podcasts, Loom libraries, and now structured debate.

Before tech, Rebecca taught and administered in public high schools. She also spent five years at an LMS startup, covering curriculum, implementation, pre-sales, product, and consulting. Today she champions a multi-modal approach to corporate learning grounded in self-efficacy, real workflows, and the higher-order thinking skills humans need most as AI takes on more of the lower ones.
